Welcome back! It's day 5 of Anthropologie Knock Off Week. Are you tired yet? I am! I had a hectic travel schedule last week, so what was probably just allergies or a mild virus has morphed into a sinus infection and I am struggling to make it through the week. The good news is I finally saw the doctor this morning so I should be on the mend soon. Now, enough whining from me, let's get to the good stuff! Today I am going to show you how to make these adorable chalkboard spice jars.
Materials needed for chalkboard spice jars:
- Jelly jars {I found mine at Michael's for $2.39 each}
- Chalk paint
- Chalkboard label stickers {again, I found mine at Michael's for $2.99 for a pack of 12}
- Chalk
- Spray paint
- Glue gun
Steps to make chalkboard spice jars:
1) After removing your lids, paint your jelly jars with chalk paint. You could choose any color. I chose white to make them as close to the original as possible. You will need 2 to 3 coats. Why chalk paint? Because it adheres well to shiny/smooth surfaces, such as glass! Allow your jars to dry a few hours between coats and the final coat to dry overnight.
2) Spray paint your lids. Chose any colors you like. I already had a bright turquoise and gold metallic on hand, so those are the colors I chose.
3) Use a hot glue gun to glue the disc of your lid to the outer ring. This will keep it together when you open and close the jar. It's not a vital step, but will make them less of hassle to get in and out of :)
4) When your jars are totally dry, add your chalkboard label stickers and label them with chalk.
That's it! Since I had all of the materials on hand except for the jelly jars and the chalkboard stickers, I was able to make each jar for under $3.50! These would make a fabulous housewarming gift or birthday gift for the cooking lovers in your life!

Thanks, Katie! I wish I had open storage for my spices just so I could make more of these and show them off!
Perfect idea! Sometimes I still confuse flour for sugar!
