Decorating Tips

Hello friends!  As you may know, I have been blogging a little over a month at this point and though I have been SO PLEASED with the amount of visitors to my blog, the truth is, my blog is still largely unknown.  So, imagine my surprise when Angela at the wonderful blog, Life in Velvet, nominated my little blog for a Liebster Award!  Thank you, Angela!  I am honored to accept the award :)

Don't know what that is?  Don't worry, I didn't either {hanging head in shame}.  After some research, I leaned that being nominated means that you answer some questions about yourself AND discover other new bloggers to nominate as a way of spreading the goodness around.  In essence, it is a way of getting promising new blogs noticed!

If you have been nominated {read on for my list of nominees}, here on the steps you should follow to “accept” your nomination:

  1. Read my answers to the 10 questions selected by the blogger who nominated me.
  2. Find 10 bloggers with less than 200 followers to nominate for the award.
  3. Write a post on your blog featuring the Liebster Award and include in your post answers to the questions I pose to my nominees {found below my list of nominees}.
  4. After you have written your post, comment on each of your nominee’s blogs telling them that you have nominated them.

Thanks again Angela @ Life in Velvet for the nomination! Here are my answers to Angela's questions:

1. Why did you start blogging? As the title of my blog gives away, I am an attorney by profession.  Though being a litigation attorney does involve a certain amount of intellectual creativity, I have always had a very strong artistic/crafty side to me.  In a way, my artsy side feels like an alter-ego.  Think of it like Clark Kent and Superman {ummm, of course crafty designer folks are superheroes!}.  I work as an attorney by day and genuinely enjoy my work.  But the instant I get home, I morph into this other person who loves to create and renovate.  I also LOVE photography and writing, so blogging about my DIY design and renovation projects seemed like a great outlet for my creative side.  And I was right–I am LOVING it!

2. Most loved city and why: Oh gosh, I think I am going to have to go with Savannah, Georgia because it OOOOOOZES with personality, charm and beauty.  I adore it.

3. Favorite thing in your house: Other than my twin girls, my husband and my dog, I would have to say that my favorite thing in my house is my DIY concrete fireplace {sorry folks, I have not yet blogged about it, but it will be coming early in the new year}.  I was told by professionals that it could not be done, but through research I figured out how to do it myself for less than $100.  Take that, pros!  So I love it because it turned out beautifully and was my brain child :)

4. Worst habit: I chew on my lips when I am stressed.  It's a horrible habit that I cannot seem to break.

5. If you could only take one candy to a deserted island, what would it be?  Great question.  I think it would be Reese's Peanut Butter cups.

6. What is your favorite post you have written (please link)? It would have to be the post that launched my blogging debut about my $71 Laundry Room Renovation.  It is one of my favorite DIY renovations of all time and I received such a positive response to it, so it is my favorite post.  You can check it out here:  The Laundry Room Reveal.

7. What is one interest or hobby you have that is completely different from blogging? Now this is a tough question, because as I mentioned in my question to answer # 1, blogging combines all of my favorite hobbies.  So, I guess I would have to say that I love reading.  More accurately, I love listening to audio books {because it is hard for me to find time to sit down and read}.  I am totally addicted to audiobooks.  I listen to them literally any time I am alone, whether I am in the car, shopping, crafting, renovating, walking my dog, cooking, etc.  I can listen to as many as 5 or 6 in a month.  I am a member of www.audible.com and love it!

8. Who influences you the most? Hmmm…  There is no single person that influences me the most.  I am inspired by all DIYers and crafters.  I would say the folks at the top of the list for me are Sarah @ Thrifty Décor ChickKelly @ A View Along the Way and Krista @ The Happy Housie, but there really are so, so many others!

9. Describe yourself in three words: Hard-working, creative and fun!

10. Favorite holiday: Definitely Christmas, especially now that my twin girls are old enough to get SUPER excited about it {they are almost 3 years old}.

Now, without further adieu, I hereby nominate the following wonderful blogs:

Thank you, Angela! By the way, you would have been at the very TOP of my list of nominees, but I figured you would not want to go through the whole process all over again since you just finished it :)
