Taking Our Skills Outdoors + $100 Ace Gift Card Giveaway

Last Updated on September 5, 2017

Helllllooooo!  Are you enjoying fall as much as I am so far?  I love everything about fall.  The air just SMELLS clean and fresh and the world just feels more quiet and content, doesn't it?  I wish I could say that all we have been doing is relaxing and enjoying early fall, but that would a big, fat lie.

As you know, I spend most of my time on fun, pretty INTERIOR projects.  But lately, we {and by “we,” I mostly mean Joe”} have be taking our skills OUTDOORS and have been working really, really hard on our DIY front yard renovation.  And the helpful folks at Ace Hardware have been there for us every step of the way.

Joe busted his butt to get our sprinkler system in working order and then killed our existing lawn {by “lawn” I mean weeds} to get it ready to seed.  Here he is working hard on the sprinkler system, and even harder on keeping the mosquitos away with those handy mosquito repellant bracelets.  Who says you can't use them as a necklace also?

We wanted to make our existing planting beds a bit smaller, so we had some dirt delivered and spread it on the areas that we want to grow grass.

As you saw in my Ace post last month, he also got busy removing some of the landscaping {by “landscaping” I mean overgrown, unkempt and unidentifiable trees/bushes}.

Goodbye tree

After tree

I really can't take credit for any of the work above.  Joe tackled it on his week days off while I was at the office.  BUT, I did have one tiny contribution to make to the front yard renovation that involved me doing something I have NEVER done before….  I was able to help spread the grass seed!  And guess what?!  It's kind of fun!

Our yard is fairly large, so we needed a spreader that would make the job easier.  Enter Scotts Turf Builder Pro Edgeguard Broadcast Spreader that we got our Ace Hardware.  This thing is awesome.  It can spread seed AND fertilizer.

We fertilized first.  Then we were ready to spread the seed.  This is easy work, y'all.  My twin girls even got in on some of the action.  There's something cathartic about pushing this thing around knowing you are going to GROW GRASS in only 7 to 10 days.

It feels good to have tackled an exterior project for a change!  It just goes to show that when you have expert help {like you can find at Ace Hardware} and an awesome product that does just what you need it to do, you really can do anything, even if it is outside of your comfort zone.

What projects are you tackling this fall?  Could you use a $100 Ace Hardware gift card to help you?  Well, you are in luck!  You can enter to win by using the Rafflecopter below.  A winner will be selected at random.  Be sure to enter before the giveaway ends at 12:00 am on October 10th!
