Hey y'all!  If you follow my blog regularly, you know I post about DIY home decor projects most of the time.  I very, very rarely post recipes.  And when I do, it's because they are mind blowing and EPIC, so I feel like I have to share them.  So when Wayfair announced its Battle of the Pies Challenge, I knew I had to participate :)  This German Chocolate Pie recipe falls into that category.  And it's so unbelievably easy to make.  Trust me when I say this will be on my Thanksgiving menu and all my guests will be begging me for the recipe after they taste it.  It's a bit crunchy on the outside and ooey gooey in chocolate goodness in the middle.  Serve it warm with vanilla ice cream and you will taste dessert perfection!

EPIC German Chocolate Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 shortbread cookie pie crust
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 3/4 cup flaked and sweetened coconut

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • Melt your butter in a small bowl using your microwave.  Make sure it is completely melted, then add 1 cup of chocolate chips and stir until it is smooth.  The heat of the butter melts the chocolate chips nicely.
  • In a separate bowl, stir together your flour, white sugar and brown sugar.
  • Slowly add your chocolate mixture to the flour/sugar mixture and and stir together until everything is well blended.
  • Add your beaten eggs and your vanilla.
  • Fold in your pecans, coconut, and remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips.
  • Pour into your shortbread cookie pie crust.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until the top of the pie is set.  Do not over bake this pie!  You want it to be gooey and delicious in the center.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream {if desired}.

I mean seriously, how easy is that?  And how AH-MAZING does this pie look?  Trust me, it tastes even better than it looks!
