Happy Friday, folks! I hope you all get to enjoy a long Memorial Day weekend. I get to enjoy three long days away fro the office after a very long and difficult work week. I left my house at 8:15 am on Tuesday to travel out of town for depositions and did not arrive home until 9:45pm Wednesday night. I missed my family! And it was just a long and challenging couple of days of work. So, we plan to enjoy lots of together time at our home and at our neighborhood pool this weekend. I can't wait!
I also plan to take some special Father's Day photos this weekend since we will have some extra time. I love taking photos of our girls and I really try to do something special for Father's Day every year. I think it means a lot to Joe. So, today I am going to share with you a really cute Father's Day photo idea. It's what I did for Joe on his second Father's Day, when our girls were about 18 months old. I just love it. The photos are framed and are hanging in our playroom. I still smile every time I see them. Best of all, it's SO simple.
Here are some of the funny outtakes from that photo shoot that I love :)
HOW TO TAKE YOUR OWN FATHER'S DAY PHOTOS
All you need to do this yourself is some wood letters, and a heart {if desired}. Bear in mind, you only need 1 D, 1 A and 1 Y. Give each of your kids a letter and snap a whole bunch of photos. Repeat with all 3 letters. I spent about 5 minutes shooting. Then, when you have time, go back and choose your favorites later. That's the hardest part.
A couple of other recommendations for you. Pick a pretty backdrop that gets lots of good natural light. I took these on the front porch of our old house, which makes these extra special to me because we loved our front porch {and had totally renovated it ourselves}. I loved the texture of the brick and chair together. And frankly, I had to put them on a chair, otherwise they ran away before I could take a decent photo. Just try to make sure there is no clutter or other distractions in the frame. If you follow those tips, you really can't go wrong.
You could frame these vertically or horizontally. They will look fabulous either way. This would also be a great gift for a granddad :) You would just have to buy different letters! It's easy to find wood letters at any craft store. I was just at Michael's today and they definitely still have them.
Now, I also want to share with you some other fabulous Father's Day photo ideas that I have seen out in the blogsphere and love. This idea from Crafty Texas Girls has always been one of my favorites. Isn't it FABULOUS?!

For a dad celebrating his first Father's Day, I love the simplicity of this idea from Bambina Babe.

And I adore these photos by Positively Splendid. And if you head to her blog to check it out, you will see that she ever offers free printables to help you with your project!

WAIT until you see my photos from this year–I will be sharing them over at Tatertots & Jello this Friday {SQUEAL! So excited to be guest posting over at one of my favorite blogs!}. YOU ARE GOING TO LOOOOOOVE THEM!

Great ideas! I especially love the D A D D Y pics and seriously (or sadly) if you hadn’t said buy only one D, I probably would have gotten three. *facepalm*

Thank you, Glenna! I am so excited for you all to see what I came up with for this year. As far as I know, it’s a totally original idea {meaning I haven’t seen it on Pinterest or anywhere else–it’s hard to come up with an original idea now with Pinterest around}!
These are such great ideas Tasha! I love them, pinned!
Thanks so much, Mindi!
