Let me start by explaining that we are not a family that has a need for a “fancy room.” We just aren't. But, we are a family that had a strong desire for a dedicated playroom. And we knew the living room in our new home would fit the bill!
It was a pretty sad room to start with. The walls were baby poop brown (really, there is no better way to describe it) and the carpet was dingier and uglier than any other room in the house. Kind of makes me wonder what people were doing in this formerly “fancy” room…
But, the room has FABULOUSLY huge casement windows and since this room is also at the front of the house, it has wonderful natural light, which I feel is ideal for a playroom. I also love that it has glass french doors that open to our family room. LOVE that layout.
I will admit that it is not ideal that the room can been seen from the foyer. I mean, a playroom is probably not the first room you want anyone to see. But, none of our friends, family or other visitors are the stuffy type, so exposing our playroom to visitors was just fine by us.
Here are photos of the room when we purchased the house.
We have completed our renovation of this room, which included new flooring, paint, a chalkboard wall and more. Here is what it looks like now! Click here for a full post of this wonderful playroom reveal!
