I wanted to do something crafty for Valentine's Day this year, so when Aniko from Place of My Taste invited me to participate in a blog hop and Valentine's Day giveaway with 13 other AMAZING blogs I was more than eager to join in the fun. Let me start by showing you the 14 Valentine's Day crafts made by your lovely hostesses. Aren't they fabulous?!
Not only did we each make a cute Valentine's Day craft to share with you, we are also sponsoring an awesome giveaway for our wonderful readers! The winner will receive a $140 Target gift card! The giveaway will run from 8am EST on February 4th until February 14th. To enter, use the Rafflecopter at the end of this post.
Now let me share with you the details of the Valentine's Day wreath that I made this year. I kind of LOVE it and I hope you will, too! I was totally inspired by this awesome tissue paper Valentine Art by Our Pinteresting Family. Have you seen it yet? I know I pinned it on Pinterest :)

It's such a brilliant idea, and I loved the fact that it is a kid-friendly project! I decided to put my own spin on it to create my very own Valentine's Day wreath and love the results.
Read on for details about how to create this Valentine's Day wreath for yourself.
Materials needed:
- foam core board {2 pieces, 11 x 14 inches}
- Washi tape
- Tissue paper
- Ribbon
- Glue
- Scissors
- Utility knife
- Cutting board
- Pencil
1) Draw and cut out your X and O shapes from the foam core board using your utility knife and cutting board. For the X, I used a small level to draw out the shape. For my O, I used a red plastic bowl to create the top and bottom curves of the O. Since I wanted an elongated O, I free-handed the side and middle portion of the O {which was easy with the top and bottom curves already in place}.
2) Cover the back side of your letters with washi tape. This is not a vital step, but as you can see, the edges of the letters are rough and imperfect, so washi tape is a nice way to make your project look finished. Be sure to wrap the washi tape over the front of your project so that the rough edges are totally covered.
3) Now you are ready to make the front of your project pretty! THIS is the fun part. Cut your tissue paper into 1 inch squares. I used less than 1 pack of tissue paper for my Valentine's Day wreath, and the portion I used made a TON of 1 inch squares.
Then, cover a small section of your foam core with regular, white Elmer's glue. Next, place the center of a tissue paper square on the eraser of your pencil and pull the four corners flat against the pencil. My 3-year-old twin girls, Attley and Avery, did help me make some of these, but they wanted to make their OWN crafts shortly into the project, so I really wound up doing this step myself.
Next, with your tissue paper still on the pencil, place your tissue paper on the glue covered portion of the foam board.
Repeat over and over and over again until your letters are covered in fluffy tissue paper. I am not going to lie, it took me about 2 hours to complete this step, but it was fun because Attley and Avery hung out with me and busied themselves making their own crafts while I worked on mine :) After you are finished covering your letters, let the glue dry completely.
4) Once all the glue has dried, you are ready for the final step, which is to attach your ribbon. I selected a pretty gold, satin ribbon. I chose to just tie a loop from which to hang my “wreath” {I'm not really sure what else to call this project!}, but you could also tie a pretty bow if you prefer.
That's it! I was so excited to hang up my Valentine's Day wreath. I LOVE it. It looks gorgeous up close and far away.
Oh, and I HAVE to share with you Attley and Avery's crafts, too! They are so cute. Crafty like their mom :)
Do you love this Valentine's Day wreath as much as I do? Are you going to make one for yourself? What color/colors will you use?

Beautiful beautiful! At first I thought this was made out of those plastic leis (I think that’s what they’re called). I’m so impressed by the tissue technique. I’d for sure make this in red as well since it has become one of my favorite colors!
Love this idea! Maybe I will give it a go over the weekend! Thanks!
Thank you, Lisa! You should do it–it’s fun and G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S.!

LOVE! It is SUPER cute. You’ll just have to leave it up there for months because it’s so cute! It’d be a shame to take it down in a couple weeks! :)
Thank you, Kelly! It’s kind of crazy how much I love it. Don’t worry–I plan to leave it up until I have something to put up in its place {probably for Easter}.
Target has everything under the sun!
I cannot wait to get crafting with my daughter!
You will have so much fun with this project. It’s time consuming, but easy and my daughters kept saying, “Oh, Mommy, those flowers are so beautiful.” They thought I was single-handedly making flowers :) So cute.
