A Welcoming Entry + $100 Ace Hardware Giveaway
Last Updated on August 10, 2021
Hello friends! As you know from my August AND September Ace posts,  we have been working REALLY hard to improve our yard. The good news is, the yard is looking FABULOUS. Check it out…we grew grass…from SEED. Yep, we are awesome like that.
In October, the other Ace Bloggers and I were challenged by Ace Hardware to create a welcoming entry for our homes. Our foyer is already pretty welcoming, but the exterior entry of our home was NOT. It was a hot mess.

Our stone stairs were covered with grime, our raised planters were empty {except for the weeds growing in them}, our storm door was outdated and our doormat was literally in shreds. See for yourself.
Well, things look QUITE different now! We pressure washed the grime off the stairs, we planted beautiful fall mums and grass in the planters, and we finally bought a beautiful new doormat. As usual, it was a family affair.
Most importantly, we built a brand new screen door that we LOVE! We could not find a pre-made one that we liked and that was as sturdy as we wanted. So, with the fabulous service and help of our local Ace Hardware store, we figured out that we could build one. We purchased the lumber, screening, and address numbers at Ace and got to work. I am not going to share the full tutorial with you now, but it will be coming REALLY soon, so stay tuned. For now, let me just show you how fabulous it looks!
We also bought a flag pole, flag pole bracket and a flag to hang on the front of the house. It's always been important to us to have a flag on each of our homes–it just took us nearly 2 years to hang one on our current house! The girls were big helpers :)
So, shall we take a look at how it all came together?
What do you think? A bit more welcoming, huh?

Thank you so much for the opportunity to win! My husband purchased a tool that he had been wanting! Early Christmas for him!
Tasha… wow! It looks so good!
Thank you, Ashley!
The transformation is beautiful! I love your new screen door.
Thanks so much, Bonnie!
Wow it’s so light and welcoming now! I love it!
Thank you, Rebekah!
Great screen door! Can’t wait for the tutorial. Is your custom door still able to convert to a storm door, too?
Thanks so much, Jeanette! The tutorial will be up on Remodelaholic’s site this Thursday. We did not make our door so that you can change out the screen for glass, but you could certainly insert glass instead of screen. Hope that makes sense!
Oh I love what you did! My home needs some help for the front door and entry way! I would love to see what I could come up with if I won!
Thanks, Laura! Good luck in the giveaway!
I LOVE this makeover and I’m so glad you didn’t change that beautiful stone. Everything looks so fresh and clean. I’m looking forward to the screen door tutorial and I thank you for the opportunity to win the Ace gift card!
Thank you, Jen! Good luck! The screen door tutorial will be up on Remodelaholic this Thursday. I hope you will check it out!
Sorry just black rod iron railing instead of the white vinyl.
Hi Marie! The railing is actually painted wood, not vinyl. We hope one day to replace it with a very contemporary rail and wire system, but wrought iron would look nice, too!
Looks beautiful!!!
Love the storm door. First one I have really fallen in live with.
Thanks so much, Debbie! The screen door tutorial will be up on Remodelaholic’s blog this Thursday. I hope you will check it out!
Looks great! Very fresh!
Thanks so much, Melissa!
Love the transformation! And I can’t wait to see the tutorial on your screen door! It turned out so good, and I love the color you chose!
Thanks so much, Amy! The tutorial will be up on Remodelaholic {I am a contributor there} next week. Stay tuned :)
WOW Tasha, your front porch looks so welcoming now and it’s amazing how making just a few updates can make such an impact!
Thanks so much, Katie! The grass is crazy lush and soft–I still can’t quite believe it :) You are welcome to come walk in it barefoot any time!
SUCH a transformation Tasha!!! Your entryway is SO warm and welcoming now! And, I’m super jealous of that luscious grass!
Thanks so much, Kristi! I still can’t believe we grew that grass–I was so nervous that it wouldn’t work!
Looks awesome! Love how crisp and clean it looks now.
Thanks so much, Amy!
Love the update, and I love your Boxer was helping too. My Boxers are always in the middle of the action. Keep up the good work!
LOL, Connor! Glad we aren’t the only family with a Boxer who likes to be involved in the action! Thank you!
