While using area rugs on carpet can be a great way to add style and texture to your home, there are a few things you should keep in mind to ensure that you're doing it right.
One of the biggest challenges of placing an area rug on top of carpet is that it can slip, buckle and/or bunch. It is crucial to use a rug pad that is made for the purpose of holding an area rug in place on top of carpet.
A thin woven rug on top of carpet needs a different rug pad than a plush area rug will need. Swipe up to see the rugs pads I recommend for different types of area rugs on carpet.
If you don't want to spend money on a rug pad, drive a screw through your area rug and carpet down to the subfloor. I know it sounds kind of weird, but it works!
