Update Your Vinyl Floors With Paint

Our laundry room floor was dingy and dated. You won't believe how simple and quick it is to paint a floor that is beautiful, durable and long-lasting.

Materials needed:

– Porch and Floor Paint – Primer – Paint rollers – Paint trays – Painter's tape

After cleaning and clearing your floor, you need to prime it with general purpose primer. I only used one coat of primer. I let it dry overnight.

STEP 1

Painting your vinyl floor. This step has several “sub-steps” depending on the pattern you choose. I painted the entire floor with the antique white color, which I considered my “base” color, twice.  That's right, two coats.

STEP 2

The following night, I taped off my stripes using regular blue painter's tape.  I used the existing brick pattern to determine the width of my stripes.

STEP 3

Next, I painted the stripes with my secondary color–dark grey.  I also painted two coats with the charcoal grey color.
