Why We Transitioned Our Dogs to Ollie’s Fresh Food Diet
Thank you to Ollie for sponsoring this post.
If you’ve followed me on social media or read my posts for a while, it’s no secret that I’m
obsessed with our dogs. My sweet Riggins just turned 5 years old, and little Chief just turned 1
year old. Believe it or not, their birthdays are only nine days apart. We had fun celebrating their
birthdays, and our pups briefly indulged us by wearing birthday hats, lol.

But frankly, Riggins getting older has been a real source of stress for me over the past 6
months. Some of you may know that Bernese Mountain Dogs have one of the shortest lifespans
of any breed–only 6 to 8 years 😭
So as Riggins’ 5th birthday approached, I had been researching ways to keep him healthy and
extend his life as much as possible. That’s when I learned about the incredible benefits of a
fresh, whole-food diet for dogs. Studies show that dogs fed a fresh diet can live up to 2.5 years
longer than those on traditional kibble. So when Ollie reached out to me about having Riggins
and Chief try their human-grade fresh food, I immediately said yes. We transitioned both of
them to Ollie in early February, and we couldn’t be happier with our decision.

Why We Chose Ollie
Longevity
By far, the biggest reason we switched to Ollie is because of the potential to help our dogs live
longer. Scientific research has shown that fresh, whole-food diets can help dogs live up to 2.5
years longer. That’s more time for snuggles, belly rubs, and travel adventures—moments that
are truly priceless to our family.

Allergy Control
Something else that drew us to Ollie is its high-quality, human-grade, and limited-ingredient
recipes. After noticing that Riggins has been licking his paws a lot, we took him to a vet who is
board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology to evaluate him for allergies.
She suspects that he has some food allergies, including chicken. Because Ollie uses human-
grade ingredients with no fillers, artificial additives, or common allergens, it’s an excellent choice
for pups with food allergies and sensitivities.
Weight Management
Keeping dogs of all shapes and sizes at a healthy weight is really important to help them live
long, happy lives. But keeping large and giant breeds at a healthy weight is especially important
because excess weight increases the strain on their joints, which increases the risk of arthritis
and other joint issues as they get older. Riggins is a giant breed, and Chief is a large breed.
So we love that Ollie makes portion control simple. Each meal is customized for your
dog’s weight and activity level so that they get exactly what they need—no more,
no less.

Ollie's Health Screenings
One of the coolest features Ollie offers is its health screenings, which can help detect early
warning signs of health issues. Ollie offers digestion, weight, dental health and skin and coat
screenings. The screenings, which are free for Ollie members, can give you helpful insight into
how your pup is doing. You can learn more about the amazing health screenings here.
The Benefits We've Seen
Since transitioning to Ollie, we’ve noticed several changes in Chief and Riggins. First, they
LOVE their Ollie food! Frankly, both of our dogs seemed to like their old food, so I was surprised
to see how much more they love Ollie. Let’s just say their increased enthusiasm for mealtime is
noticeable.

Their digestion has also improved. I won’t get too graphic here, but their poops have changed
for the better.
And we’ve already seen a reduction in some of Riggins’ allergy symptoms—he is not licking his
paws as much.
Last but not least, knowing that we’re giving both of our dogs the best possible food gives us so
much peace of mind.
Final Thoughts
Making the switch to Ollie is one of the easiest and best decisions we’ve made for our dogs’
health. If you want to give your pup a longer and healthier life, I highly recommend giving Ollie a
try. Because at the end of the day, every extra wag, cuddle, and joyful moment with them is
absolutely worth it.
