Part 1: 2021 Colorful Christmas Home Tour

Last Updated on October 13, 2022

Each year I share a tour of our home all decorated for Christmas, and today it's time to share Part 1 of my 2021 colorful Christmas home tour! If you love colorful Christmas decorations, you won't be disappointed!

It's finally time for a full tour of our home all decked out for Christmas because it's time for the It's A Colorful Life Christmas Home Tour blog hop hosted by my friend Jennifer from Dimples & Tangles! If you are a color lover, you will LOVE the Christmas home tours from 23 of my color-loving friends! You can see the full tour schedule at the end of this post. And, if you're an Instagram user, we'll be inviting you to participate in the touring fun on Friday by posting your colorful Christmas spaces with the tag #ItsAColorfulLifeTour so we can all see!

I've included image links to some of the Christmas decor you will see in our home throughout this post. I've also included a big, comprehensive product gallery at the end of this post that I hope will help you find things you are looking for.

Let's dive straight into the tour now, shall we?!

First up let's take a look at the kitchen since it has changed DRASTICALLY since last Christmas. We painted our kitchen cabinets (see how here), backsplash AND painted the kitchen countertops to look like marble. So this year the kitchen was one of my favorite rooms to decorate for Christmas. These mini wreaths are one of my favorite Christmas decor items (you can check out some other favorite mini wreaths of mine here).

This year I also added some inexpensive wrapping paper to the “accent” portion of our backsplash. It's a subtle touch and an idea I got from one of my sisters (who brilliantly applied removable Christmas wallpaper to her entire backsplash).

Next up is the sitting area right off of our kitchen. I added some simple touches of Christmas in this area, including this adorable flocked mini-Christmas tree and this new blanket (that is such a good deal). The pillows and other decor (including those stag heads) you see I've had for many years and still love!

That brings us to the family room. This space has also changed a ton since last year. We completely renovated the fireplace and the trim above the doors/windows over the summer. We replaced our old TV with a Frame TV (you can read my unbiased review and assessment of whether the Frame TV is worth it here) so that we can display art on it. This digital art that I'm displaying on it for Christmas brings me so much joy. All of these changes made it super fun to decorate this year!

We made a few new art pieces to display on our DIY art ledge this year including this DIY light-up art. We also wrapped this shower curtain around a simple wooden frame to create the beautiful piece of oversized art you see in the middle. You can watch short videos of each of those art projects below :)

And since we added these DIY shelves over the summer as well, I did invest in some new Christmas items to decorate them with. I love how this wall turned out!

Next up is probably my favorite space in our home this Christmas…the dining room! I found these absolutely stunning paper lanterns and added some puck lights to them to make them absolutely magical at night. You can watch how I did it here or just watch the short video below.

The dining room looks into our foyer, which I decorated with these Nutcracker art prints and my collection of bottlebrush trees.

As promised, below you can find a product gallery that includes most of the Christmas decor you've seen today. It will also include some decor that you will see in Part 2 of my Christmas home tour tomorrow :)

Phew! That's it for today. You can find Part 2 of the tour HERE. In it I share our bedrooms and hallway (which I think is the best part)! And next week I'll share a short but magical tour of what some of the spaces in our home look like when they are glowing at night.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the main areas of our home colorfully decorated for Christmas!

Now, grab a refill of coffee and head over to Tatertots and Jello to continue today's blog hop tour. Jennifer loves color just as much as I do but creates her spaces with brighter colors and a totally different vibe. Then, continue on for the rest of today's tours–you can find the schedule below!
