Follow along as we refresh our little girl's room in this New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge! We are making steady progress so far!
If you follow me over on Instagram, you know that we've been working on making some changes to both of our girls' rooms. Progress has felt slow at times, but we HAVE been making progress ?? To keep myself motivated and on schedule to finish their rooms early in the new year, I teamed up with some other awesome bloggers and sponsors for the New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge hosted by my sweet friend Stephanie from Casa Watkins Living. Over the course of the next 4 weeks, we will each refresh a room in our homes. So fun!

I've been working on Attley's room for this challenge. We really did LOVE her room the way it was. Here's a reminder of what it has looked like for quite a while now.
Just to remind you, here's the mood board for Attley's new more grown-up room :)
The changes in her room largely revolve around the fact that we are swapping out her twin size bed for a full-size bed. I'm personally VERY excited about this change because it's getting quite difficult to lay comfortably in her twin bed with her. So, I found the cutest old Jenny Lind bed on Facebook Marketplace that I'm going to repair and paint for her.
So far, we've gotten LOTS done (even though it feels like we have so far to go). We have:
- We have painted the ceiling, walls (Falling Snow by Behr) and trim
- We've hung a new light fixture
- We had NEW carpet installed
- We've installed the wall mural
And that's it so far!
So you hear me talk a lot about color, but I'm also a big believer in the power of TEXTURE and PATTERN in a space. When it came time to replace the old carpeting in our girls' bedrooms, we originally thought we would use the same laminate that we've used everywhere else in the house. Turns out our girls had strong OPINIONS about that, lol ? They really, really, really wanted to keep carpet in their rooms. They sit on their floors a lot to play and have sleepovers with sleeping bags, etc. Valid points. So, we started hunting for carpet.
It's fair to say that in general, I was super uninspired by carpet options ? And at first, we decided on a nice, soft plush carpet. We brought home the sample board. IT WAS SO BORING. I just couldn't do it. I realized pretty quickly that we needed some sort of dimension or pattern. So we went back to the drawing board and I'm so glad we did!
We settled on this small square pattern in a slightly cooler color (more “greige” than “beige” like our old carpet). And I am here for it ?????? You can see a comparison of the old carpet and new carpet below.
Here's a peek at the room so far.
Last, but not least, we have set up Attley's new mattress that we were gifted from Crave Mattress. It's SO COMFY and she loves it!
That's it for this week's update.
As I mentioned, I've teamed up with a bunch of people for this challenge!
