Now that I have kids, I find that I LOVE Halloween. And being a DIYer, I couldn't let Halloween go by without making a DIY Halloween wreath! I am SUPER excited to show you how to make a Halloween wreath for less than $6.00. First, let me show you the end result {I am totally in love with it}. This post contains some affiliate links. How to Make a Halloween Wreath:
Materials Needed:
- Letters. I found my thick, paper type letters at Michael's for $1.39 each.
- Ribbon. I had left over orange ribbon from a past project.
- Glue Gun
- Chalkboard Paint
{I used Valspar chalkboard paint for this project, but I also love and have used the Rustoleum brand a lot–that is what I used for my girls' chalkboard wall in their playroom}
- Paint brush
- White chalk
Steps:
1) If you are like me and can't find any “O” letters at your craft store, you will have to start by cutting the tail off of your “Q” letters :)
2) Next, paint all your letters with your chalkboard paint. Mine required 3 thin coats. They dry quickly.
3) Once your letters are fully coated and have dried, turn them over an attach your ribbon with your glue gun. {PS- it helps if you have a super cute assistant to help you figure out the placement of your ribbon like I did}.
4) Now, “prime” your letters with chalk by rubbing chalk all over the letters and then rubbing it off with an eraser.
5) Finally, draw whatever Halloween sketches you want! Trust me, I am no artist, and I managed to draw a spider, some spider webs, a tree, bat, a witches hat and some ghosts. You can do it, I promise.
That's it! Isn't it easy and adorable?! What is your favorite Halloween wreath that you have ever seen? If you want to save this tutorial for later, why not pin it?
